Rincon Cubano

Rincon Cubano, Country Club Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
The food. They have a daily special. So that's what I order. A shredded beef in a sauce, black beans, rice, and a tamale. If I am not familiar with a cuisine I go with a daily special or a server recommendation.
I have come to the conclusion cuban food is mild to flavorless. Perfect for floridians. Since I always must add hot sauce. It tasted fine just shredded beef in a tomato base. Beans and rice just cooked in water. Tamale was different just ok. Espresso coffee was strong and sweet. Service was good, a lot of take out going on.
If you are inclined for this fare go for it.

Waffle House

Waffle House, Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl, Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chatter.
Well folks from having none, now there is 2 Waffle joints  in the Coma. I must say , Management does a good job.
I got a waffle, bacon, toast, coffee, hashbrowns and eggs over easy.  Both places are carbon copies. Service is good. Food is excellent. It is what I expect.
So 24 hours a day, 2 places on Del Prado Blvd. you can feed that need for waffles.

3 Pepper Burrito Co.

3 Pepper Burrito Co., Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl.,  Hi, This is not my usual review. I must say right off, the Staff here was excellent. That being said.
This is what is wrong with some, not all, of the eateries in SWFL.
THIS IS NOT A BURRITO PLACE....ITS A WRAP PLACE.
This does not serve real San Francisco style burrito. HOME of the invention of the burrito in the late 40's and early 50's.
1. No refried beans. 2. Corn! what idiot puts corn in a burrito. 3. what fool puts lettuce in a burrito. 4. All of the meats have NO mexican spice. PLAIN... 5.I tried the so call Diablo sauce, That means Devil, it was so wimpy in flavor. 6. The tortilla chips were commercial brand not house cooked.7. THE SALSA was from a can or a jar. Real stuff is made fresh DAILY!!!!
8. The gimmick here is a fresh tortilla. THAT ALL IT IS A GIMMICK ...I have been to a real restaurant and a factory. This is so 2nd rate.
What gets me boiled is that the ignorant floridians accept this as real. I only came back because of a 2 coupon.. My Food. Roast pork. NO chili verde with pork as is done in a REAL eatery. I watched them add my selections. Tweaking as needed..
The burrito wrap was rubbery and fell apart as I tried to hold it with 2 hands. This is the proper way of consuming such. Just like in New York there is a right way to hold pizza or Chicago for their italian sandwich. Even after adding 3 serving of jalapeno peppers, salsa and the Diablo sauce this SUCKS. I ate half and threw it away in disgust. NEVER MORE!!!!!!

Panera Bread

Panera Bread, NE Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter. I got a ham and cheese sandwich ( or they called 1/2 sandwich) and some clam chowder. The ham was one slice no flavor. Cheese 1 slice a bit of flavor. Clam chowder.... tasted like out of a can, only a bit of clams seen or tasted. They give you a hard crusty piece of bread. Which really was the best flavor of the meal. Plus a drink this was about 11 bucks
Chatter.... You can order on line, go to a computer kiosk to order, or stand in line. They give you a disc and someone brings you your meal. There is no salt or pepper, napkins, or condiments at the tables. You must go to a booth to get this.
WHY DO THEY ASK FOR A TIP...WHEN PAYING YOUR BILL???????? They did nothing extra!!!
As a bakery maybe they are good. but as a eatery they suck for me. TOO impersonal. TOO sterile
Healthy....maybe... FLAVORLESS YES!

Woody's

Woody's, Surfside Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter. The food. A philly cheesesteak sandwich & potatoes salad. The salad was flavorless and very dry. I expected more and got less. The sandwich was just mediocre . The only different was the bell peppers were chunks not strips. Not very big, really not worth coming here.
Service was good. But if food is just so so why come here.

Perk and Brew

Perk and Brew, Cape Coral Parkway, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat.
Ahh the food. First the coffee anyway you like. Appetizer, Spanakopita, hot ,hand made with phyllo dough spinach & cheese. Crunchy and tasty so good....
My roast beef sandwich. On a choice of bread,( I had ciabatta). Very fresh a bit chewy so good.. Roast beef medium rare a bit thick on the slices. I ran it thru the garden and condiments.(everything) Truly one of the better sandwiches I have had.   Also a side of bag of chips.

Chit Chat... This is a mom and pop type place.  So you know it may be a bit more expensive. The service, quality and eh not so much the quantity. But it is definitely worth the trip.
OH YES... You must try the BIG MEATBALL  dish. It fills the stomach and the eyes. So GOOD... Do NOT pass on this item.
Folks wonderful. Parking front and rear.

Nestor

Nestor's Restaurant, Hancock Bridge Pkwy, North Fort Myers, Here is a bit of chit chat and my 2 cents on the food.
It was a very rare cool day, approximately 64 degrees. I have unfortunately acclimatize to the brutal humid heat, Hades, or of this place. But it reminded me of growing up in Misery, I mean Missouri. I felt a need for old style mid western chow of my aunt or grandma. On a day like today, I had a reflection of what I use to do and eat. In my old age I do realize I have become a bit of a foodie snob.
Which does not mean I am wrong. I am still right. Right about my observations and taste.
 So my meal.
The food. $11.99 I order stuff green peppers, mash potatoe/gravy house made beef barley soup, a roll and dessert. Roll and hot soup on a cold day. Soup was like home. Lots of barley and stuff, a bit lacking in flavor just like the midwest.  It still tasted good  though. This time around my taters were cold. I mentioned this issue and very quickly I had a new piping hot dish.  The taters also need a pick me up of butter. When I added a tad, it was fine. The stuff peppers were good. The ground beef was seasoned well. They held together but broke easily when using my fork. I have been eating chili rellenos for so long ,I forgot how tasty simple peppers can be. My dessert a slice of baklava and chocolate ice cream
Service was excellent.

Rib City Grill

Rib City Grill, Hancock Bridge Parkway, Cape Coral, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter. Well since I am sick and tired of swine, I got a beef and chicken plate. I picked beans, fries and got some texas size garlic toast.
The food...The garlic toast was the best part. Beans taste like out of the can with a tad of fixins. A very small half of chicken over- smoked. Beef was ok but not a brisket. I was here 5 years ago. Why are they still in business?? Shows the mediocrity and bad taste buds of floridian.Sauce not hot,not sweet , just sour very watery. Though there are, a few halfway decent bbq in The Coma and such.       ( definitely with better sides) I do not comprehend why folks come here. I guess because it's cheap.
You get what you pay for.
Service was good.

Buon Appetito Restaurant

Buon Appetito Restaurant, Surfside Blvd., Cape Coral, FL., Here is some chit chat and my 2 cents on the food.
Chatter. I was concern about going to this eatery. It got negative feedback. But I was reminded I do this for the food. So I checked this place out on Friday for lunch. I did find repeat customers. Thats a good sign.
The food. They have a $7 lunch menu and everything else. I was served fresh, out of the oven, made on premise bread. MMMMM good.  Real butter... I order the clams with garlic and linguine pasta. $18 bucks. Yes it was a bit pricey. But when I got my order( see pic ) it had lots of fresh clams. I also request extra garlic. As I sorted through the shells I found chunks of FRESH garlic. Plus only 2 slices of burnt garlic. Garlic ,taste terrible when burnt. OMG this was delish. Lots of clams, garlic and the right amount of pasta. This dish was well balanced. The chef/cook was Abe.... This was an excellent meal. So aside for maybe other issues. My entree was wonderful.
Service was stellar.

Asia Buffet

Asia Buffet, Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, FL., This time a grumbling of 2 cents in my tummy.
The Food. I have been here before. I have never had the hibachi. WoW this was a mistake. A 6 y.o. girl or republican could do this task. ( a task means-job-for you republicans) Anyway after handing my items over to be cooked....Nothing was really cooked. The carrots were raw, peppers under cooked and noodles of all things were still cold. Terrible. I tried the baked salmon. It was like a rock. How do you make fish like a rock?  I do not know what happen here. Last time I was here on a weekday. This time Saturday.
Pass this by.

nice guy pizza

Nice Guys Pizza, Cape Coral Parkway, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chitchat.
My food.
French press coffee do it yourself. 4 bucks. They bring you a pot. U wait 4 minutes. Press. Coffee. Ok not so bad. But please bring me good ole fashion white sugar.. Not this healthy with molasses nouveau sugar type.
Pizza all are about 9 dollars. Limited menu!!  I had something with salmon, capers, tomatoes, garlic and cream cheese.
This is a breakfast type thing, A fusion-nouveau-chic type pie. NOT a real pizza pie. It was ok but it was missing something. Even adding cheese or flakes failed to make it taste better. The neighbor cat and birds enjoyed the remnants.
I must say the crust was excellent. Crisp tasty. I will come back for a REAL pizza.
OK chit chat. This joint is usually open 4-130 am. Folks said it was good.Being adventurous I tried the Sunday Brunch- 12 PM 3 PM a new deal.
I was shock to find at 1215 PM this place was crowded. People waiting for a table, Plus sitting in 90 degrees in the shade. WOW what is wrong here. Most folks are 21-30+ y.o. here. Servers were excellent food looks great.
I am not sure what the attraction is here. Unless it was a place on Sunday morn for social interaction.
I guess I will come back for the real pie.

Stamatis Family Restaurant

Stamatis Family Restaurant, Weavers Corner, North Fort Myers,FL. Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat.
WOW...Lets start with the free serving of bread and REAL butter. (Hardly anyone gives out free bread or rolls now a day as a matter of habit) Then a choice of soup or salad ( clam chowders since it friday ) but I needed a veggie so I got a cold crisp salad, Greek style was available for a buck more.
My sides were mash potato/gravy and fantastic green beans with some bacon. My main entree ,fried chicken.. Now I was not too crazy for the gravy on the taters;Green beans a thumb up.
My oh my the chicken it was great.... 4 pieces, the breast ( which I usually hate) was crispy tasty and oh so moist inside. The wing literally melted in my mouth... bones and all. Then the drum stick and meaty dark thigh. I was in heaven.
Chi chat. One of the best meals I have had in a while.    Family meals.... home style portions ... sandwiches..Many options including greek entrees... And prices are very reasonable .. My meal was only $7.98... The most pricy was about 10 bucks for a steak. Many lunch time items it seemed were under 6 bucks. The place was clean and servers were so quick and nice
I am told the liver and onions are the best via the more senior folks. They do a great breakfast here also.
So come to what I call the gourmet ghetto of Fort Myers. ( North Fort Myers)  No fancy ambiance or plates. Just outstanding ,fill the belly, put a smile on the face , and helps keep you wallet on the fat side.

Skip 1

Skip 1 Seafood Market and Restaurant, Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat. Oh my the fresh food. First the in-house perfectly sweeten ice cold tea.Excellent.... My sides. In house made creamy potatoe salad with a tad of red & green bell peppers MMMMM. Fresh and crunchy coleslaw. Old school delight. Now my just got out of the ocean seafood platter. Four jumbo size local shrimp, 4 or so tender scallops, .....Crunchy though a bit chewy fried to perfection clams. A good size fish filet to add tartar sauce and malt vinegar for those English fish and chip fan. AHHHH lets not forget the 4-5 inch diameter crab cake,  loaded with crab and those bell peppers for taste.
This is old school atmosphere with as it should be fresh fish. A reminder of better, slower day. The old world beach charm. With a fresh market case to select from the fish monger and carry home the next day meal.
Or if you prefer, all you want and can eat from shrimp or grouper, Sunday - Thursday entrees. at a reasonable price. Good prices of $15- 39 bucks plus in between...Or for the smaller appetite a singular but outstanding meal.
YOU Must try this 30 plus year old traditional Florida eatery.
Note: you can miss it driving south on 41/Tamiami Trail(right side). It is place back from the roadway.....It has 1 shaded handicapped space, in front of the main entrance, next to seating under some trees. There are 3 other parking spaces in front. BUT LOTS of parking in the rear of the establishment.
For all the snowbirds, newbies and old farts who has retired here , come check out this place.
