Texas Road House, For the meat eater

Here is my 2 cents, This is the 2nd time eating here. It beef's ....it is all good. No menu this time. I saw a 20 ounce boneless ribeye in the glass case.
That was mine. As usual there was all you can eat hot honey flavored rolls with butter. Plus peanuts galore.... make a mess on the floor. I splurged and got a Tequila Sunrise.
( wow 6 bucks for a named brand tequila.. I paid 95 cents for my first sunrise at Lacklind ,AFB, Texas, way back when,1975) I added mushrooms on top of the  steak and of course it must be medium rare. The cook obliged and did the job right. It was delish and tender.Green beans with bacon/onions.... tasty. Plus a baked potato with all the fixings :cheese, bacon, sour cream and of course extra butter. The tater was cooked to perfection hot fluffy. ( eat the skins for the vitamins folks).  Of course being long in the tooth I had to get a doggie bag for the rest of my ribeye. ( I am no longer a spring chicken) But take it home slap it between two slices of white bread ... a 2nd meal.

The service and folks were stellar. I was there at  1105 AM on Memorial Day. Food came quick. Lots of attention. The place filled up fast.

Great Job.

Chipotle, ripping off the ignorant.

Here is my 2 cents on the food. I lived in San Francisco , Ca. for 30 years . Birth place of the burrito.
I know burrito's. This is a wannbe burrito.  What self respecting mexican citizen would even offer tofu??? And not beef tongue??? I digress.
The steak burrito just suck. I was told it was the most spicy.  WRONG it had the most cumin. The steak was a bit rubbery. Only pinto beans or black beans offered. NO refried beans....White or brown rice. WOW too much rice /beans and hardly any meat.
I measure my burrito. Less than 5 inches long. It was thick stuffed with rice/beans. But it tasted bad. I did not finished it. Plus I paid $9.65 for this and a medium drink.

Chit chat... First the good it is very clean. Industrial like clean. Parking is good. Service and folks are outstanding. I love it........ Do not go here if you are a frugal diner.$9.65 for medium mediocre burrito + a medium drink.. THAT IS SO WRONG...Also if you are looking for real mexican style food.. This is Yuppie type food. Not food for real men. There are better deals( 8.99 for a seafood entree in the Cape)For a real burrito try Super Taco or 3 Burrito.

Do come here if you like to waste your money and have mediocre to terrible taste buds. That covers 95% of floridians. If you are from the West coast stay away. ..Exceptions veggie wimps and gotta be organic types.

Mucho Taco,good divey mexican food

Here is my 2 cents of the food. OBA OBA, it was great. It was almost like being in LA.
The tacos were just the way I got them off a stand in Tijuana . Oh my goodness the chili relleno
. It has to be as good as any more pricey eatery .  Sauce ,well delish... cheese melted enough to burn your mouth. Hot salsa was homemade. Bean and rice. Well its beans and rice. good stuff.

Chit chat... It is located in a barrio type place in Fort Myers. Near a major highway 75 on Palm Beach Blvd. It is in a mall. It is. a DIVE.
BUT the best food is ALWAYS in a DIVE. We got there at 1130 AM on a Sunday. It had a line of families and working stiffs. Always a GREAT sign. Spanish is prefered but english works well. Tables, counters, booth to sit in.  It is a small space.....Local spanish station on the TV.
They open at 1030AM. good time to get in and out.
So when you need REAL mexican food not Taco B**l bull stuff. Come on down here.
And if you have never have had REAL mexican cuisine only T**o Bell stuff you will be surprised and delighted.

Though I have met floridians who prefer americanized mexican food. ....Just goes to show you the bad taste floridians in general have.

The Waffle House, so good

Here is my 2 cents on the food.  WOW every time I have gone here the food is fantastic. I always get a waffles.
They are crispy and hot. Waffle House , people get the waffles. The cook always does my eggs right, over easy.
The 9 variation of hashbrowns. I get the standard potaoes, always great .
Coffee is good
.BUT the cups are TOO small...too many refills adding cream and sugar too many times ;(~~~
Anyway the food has always been done to my great satisfaction.

Now chit chat.  We were there on a Thursday, 1120 am. WOW crowded. But did get a table. Christy(? )was a outstanding server. She was fast, helpful, and attentive. 15 minutes later the rush of people were gone. (thank you) ...The staff were great cleaning and shining up the place. I love coming here, but too bad they are 11 miles from crib. Good thing I guess , I would get fat on waffles & bacon otherwise.

When in the area or passing on the 75 stop in here. Please!!!!!

Slates, soooooo good

Here is my 2 cents. This the 2nd time eating here. The food is just outstanding. It is spicy and so flavorable. I had the crawfish etouffee  and my wife had the shrimp poor boy.
The seafood is fresh and melts in your mouth. The etouffee is full of crawfish and so spicy. Maybe too spicy for floridians. PLUS if you need more heat (like me) they offer additional choice sauces. The first time eating key lime pie was great. Though we had to wait for the chef to make the whip cream, It was so worth it. ( I make my own whip cream. I know fresh whip cream ;-) )

Service was again out standing

Texas de Brasil, Carnivore delight

Here is my 2 cents..... It is a carnivore delight. Sirloin steak, pork loin, chicken legs, chicken hearts, sausage, lamb... ON and On and ON...You have died and gone to a carnivore heaven. (to bad there is no heaven) Even when you put out the stop sign it comes. All seasoned properly & cooked the way you desire.. A large variety of side dishes from Brasil. Noodle ,shrimp, salad stuff.  GARLIC mash potato. mmmmm aromatic.  If you do not leave with a smile on your face and a belt notch open...
Then you miss the WHOLE point of ALL YOU CAN EAT meat.

Now some chitchat... I was there for lunch at 1.30 PM. on a Friday....The problem was I arrived there at 1:00 PM. It was a madhouse no place to park.  Whats up with taxi stands at a shopping mall or Valet parking??? I never saw that or heard of that in California. I guess that is the problem with malls.
I was told 5-10 minutes for a table. It was less than 2. Everyone of the staff was pleasant and so nice.  I felt I was back in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro,Brasil. The only exception is in Brasil the staff personnel is ALL male. My waiter, John did a outstanding job.
The place was pack. This is my first experience, being in a eatery, with so many people in a long long time. But as stated service was not lacking. All of the food was beautiful and so tasty. My one complaint was my drink. $3.00 for a small aluminum Coke bottle ? Pretty yes! Now the price of $26.95 I thought was excellent.... Its all you can eat and it was delish...
Next Time I am there in Doral,Fl., I will be there with expandable pants.

Fish Tale Grill & Merrick Seafood, A nice fish tail

Here is my 2 cents on the food. Fabulous and delectable for the palette. The first entree, crab cakes with rice.
OMG it was bursting with crab meat and flavor. Fried to perfection. The rice was oh so good. 2nd entree fried grouper with a Thai chili sauce.
The grouper was fried just right. Meat was moist, soft and tender.  A drizzle of thai chili sauce coating. For those with barbarians  pallette. Thai chili sauce is a slightly hot sauce, with ginger and a touch of sweetness. If you never have had it, I feel sorry for your tongue Orzo salad as my side dish was cool and so good for my tummy.... And now dessert. Vanilla creme brulee
. It is hard to describe. But I will try.  The top is a melted sugar which has been glazed over via a hand torch or a  hot broiler. Under neath is a smooth and creamy  (vanilla in this case)  concoction similar to a pudding. BUT oh so much more in depth. This has to be one of the better meals, I have had..... At  8.99 per entree ,for lunch such a bargain.

Beside the restaurant  you have a seafood store. Crab legs, lobster, grouper and of course escargot etc. Escargot are a buck each...(snails for less sophicates). The have special every day of the week. Plus items prepared so you may finish it at home.
It is located in the downtown area of Cape Coral. All the staff were wonderful and helpful.
This is a must try eatery...

Long John Silver, Finally made it, IT was worth the wait

Here is my 2 cents on the food first. I got the seafood patter.
6 Large fried shrimp, 2 fish filets, 2 hushpuppies, side of onion rings and a cole slaw. MMMMM good. I was surprised at the size of the shrimp. Big....Onion rings freshly battered. filets, tasty ...hushpuppy as good as anywhere. Cole slaw creamy. My pick from now on. Oh yes it was 10 bucks, drink included.

Now some chit chat. I have been seeing and receiving ads for a looonnngggg time...I was driving from Miami. My butt was sore  & this was on the way home to The Cape. Long John is 12 miles from my house. I cannot see driving that far, for a fast food place.
It was good very much worth the stop alone.
Now the folks were nice and quick. I was tired and needed to get home.
My one complaint (or MAYBE my fault) was NO condiments . NO tartar sauce, no cocktail sauce no catsup was offered or included in my bag or pointed out. It would have been a nice to have gotten a reminder.

Will I be back,  YES, but no 12 miles for a fast food joint.  SORRY!!!!!!!!!!

Original Pancakes House, mmm good

Here is my 2 cents on the food.   MMMMM good.
One of the first places which has just waffles. They were thin, tasty ,sprinkle with a touch of powder sugar. ( Belgian are the thicker ones.) My partner had french crepes.
Loaded with fresh strawberries and a warm strawberry syrup. Both were a delight.

Now some chitchat. We got here on a saturday morn around 830 am. 5-6 tables filled. Made our order. It arrived real quick. WOW within 5 minutes the place got swamped. We arrived in time. Must be good food with all the customers. Next time in the area will be back. Give this place a try. Service was also outstanding.

Courtyard Miami West, Outstanding night

Here is my  2 cents on my 1 night stay at Courtyard Miami West, Doral, Florida. A Friday night in the month of May.

I had an outstanding stay. The General Manager, Mellissa Benoit was able to fill my request of checking in early and out. The place was beautifully  decorated. It appeared spotlessly clean. All of the staff gave me a friendly hellos.  The main reception desk personnel were bright and cheery. Everyone had a wonderful attitude with a great big smile.
Though it was a small property there was a pool, a patio with a BBQ available and tables/chairs to lounge around if desire. A office workspace. Also a manned dining area to purchase drinks and food..
My room was excellent. House keeping did a perfect job. All corners were dust free , mirrors spotless. A/C was set just right. I found the design and decor very inviting and restful. Darkout curtains did its job. Over all a rating of A+. I definitely recommend this place and would use it it again.
