The Log Cabin, Small town big flavor of food

Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat at the same time. This is a wonderful local favorite. Portions are enough to fill. Yet does not empty the wallet. The place serves all 3 eating time. They do a bbq and hometown food. I was not sure what I wanted. So I ask my server. Andre I believe was her name(excellent job). Anyway she mention the owners had been fishermen in the Keys. And that she thought the scallops were the best. So we went with that.
Saute. They were cooked to perfection with the right amount of garlic wine sauce. Plus they were tender and melted in the mouth.I also had the baked beans. Tasty with onions and a hint of green peppers. The homemade cole slaw was a delight.

The staff has to be one of the friendliest I have every encounter. Poised helpful just great. So if in the area you must try this eatery......

Curtis Honey, a sweet place to visit

I saw this on a local show, Paradise TV. So I played tourist and drove the 30 + miles. It is in a small town of Labelle, Fl. If you sneeze you would miss the place.
Anyway Curtis Honey have been around since the 1950's. They are a small business that does everything with honey.
They offer a tasting of what their beez make. They show how the honey is produce for sale.. So this is a must stop in if you are in the area. Plus be prepared to buy some. You cannot resist.

Angry Tomato, a chick place, not for real men

Well here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat combine. First I must say the food it is healthy. Taste is fine.  But beside lightening your waist size ... it lightens your wallet .. It does not really fills up a John Wayne- Man  size -belly. This is a place for chicks and those on a DIEt. (you know DIE from starvation).
I had the Sriracha Banh Mi...
It is a wannabe copy of a vietnamese sandwich called a Banh. The real version it has pork or chicken, bean sprouts, cilantro and NO sunflowers seeds. Plus it is on a french banquette. As of this writing this sandwich cost me 8.00 bucks. My last Banh 3 years ago in Oakland, Ca at a real Vietnamese eatery my bill was 5 bucks. Now I must admit it was a good sandwich. Not as spicy as the real deal. But for Floridians it is fine.
Now being a real man with a real appetite and a frugal individual, it just does not cut it. To fill my hunger for 3 days for 2 dollars more. I can get what they call a blockbuster with roast beef, turkey, ham & cheese. It is on a bread 18 inches long with the meat 2 inches thick ( yes I measured it) Along with dragging it through the garden included. Plus mustard , oil  etc. on top. . Now being on a DIEt you can customize it and cut down the calories. But for a few dollar more I can feed  2 friends or have lunch for 3 more days.

The folks here are great the ingredients are excellent. I am sorry my stomach and wallet rules.
So chicks this is a place for you all.

Stevie Tomatoes Sports Page, A good deal for six bucks

Here is my 2 cents on the food.. I got the fathers day special of baby back ribs. 6 bucks.
Well it was definitely fall off the bone. No knife needed. The seasoned fries were good and well seasoned. Cole slaw ehh just cole slaw.. Back to the ribs.. They were what you expect for Floridians and a chain eatery.  Ok nothing outstanding. The sauce should have been more sweet or more spicy. It was just mediocre just like Florida has come to mean.  Really a small kick up of a catsup.sauce.

The place was very clean, folks nice, attentive. Over all a good experience for the price.  But for the food flavor. NO thats why I only come here 1-2 times for the specials. I cannot do it for price they sell it . Beside no clean up mess for me to take care of.

Petes Fish & Chips, Still worth a visit

Here is my 2 cents on the food.  Well the taste and quality is still there

. Chips are crispy on the outside and hot/steamy on the inside. The fish is as good as ever. Crispy too, flesh is delightful ffor the taste buds.

So if in The Cape and need to scratch that itch for fish & chips. This is the place. Good folks fast service Great all around.

Jersey Sports Cafe, sport cafe for the sport dullard

Here is my 2 cents on the food. I came for the all you can eat fish. 10.99 on fridays.

For the price not a bad deal. First the home made cole slaw. A small portion and too much black pepper. I have been known to cover my eggs and other stuff with lots of pepper. The cole slaw suck even with the mingling of extra black pepper. Now the seasoned fries was a nice surprise for the tongue. The fried fish was good no big whoop. I also tried the blacken fish. IT SUCKED..
. it was not season or  coated properly. How can you have no pride and send out bad tasting/ bad lookin food in this day and age. Shame on the cook.

Chit chat... My server Keri did an excellent job. Getting my order for my next piece of fish before I was finnish with my present one.
It is a typical sports bar. Lots of TV with nothing but sports crap all around. While I was there they were yakking about golf.  Every smart person knows golf is NOT A SPORT but a game. Mind you .....if you took away the club (caveman) and little ball then you have walking. Walking is a sport .golf is NOT.  You can play golf by yourself..... In a sport you need a competitor...
Anyway is was nice enough. My sunrise drink was 4 bucks.
My first tequila sunrise in basic training, in San Antonio, TX. was only 95 cents. My how times have change.

So for basic bar food and mind numbing sports this is a good place.

The Del Prado Diner, a big turn around

Here is my 2 cents on the food.  This time around it was was fabulous. I got the special of Angry Cheese Steak and Cole Slaw.
First the slaw. Home made just tangy and sweet. The cabbage was sliced on long side. Unlike most places which  do it small. No added pepper or salt for me.  :-).
Now main entree.  Fresh in house bread. You can tell by the texture and taste. MMMM good.
It had thinly sliced beef, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, jalapenos, some yellow peppers, melted gooey cheese. Oh such a delight for  my taste buds. Not overly spicy just right. This is definitely a contender for best cheese steak. At least for SWFL.  Bravo Del Prado Diner.

Now some chit chat. The service and folks were wonderful. They were quick attentive and well organize. From serving a table of 10 people, to phone orders, walk ins for take out, and  lonely souls such as myself. It was great.
They are open only  for breakfast & lunch. So I must return and get some breakfast food.
Thumbs up for a great experience.

Cheddar's, good portions, fair prices, good food

Here is my 2 cents on the food. The portions were friendly. The onion rings looked and tasted like homemade.
For the price enough for 2 people and tasty. I got the chicken fried steak. The mash potatoes were good with a hint of garlic. Green beans outstanding. Ohh  yes the heart attack fried steak.. yyyuuuummmmyy.
Enough to take home. Cooked to perfection seasoned properly and almost did not need a knife. Over all good american faire for the tastebuds.

Now some chit chat. This was my first time visit. I am not sure what I was expecting. But it was very tastefully decorated. I was seated promptly. (This is on a sunday around 12 pm.) My server was Luis. I was suprise with some 3 X 5 cards about the menu and Luis.  It answered in advance questions that I had. I thought this is a brilliant idea. Thumbs up Cheddar's. Service and the smiles were excellent. An overall  great experience.  My one issue was I did not get my Texas size toast with my meal. :-(.  My oh my..   But hey there was more than enough vittles that I did not remember until I was driving home. Plus my waist did not need it.

Over all this is one of the best chain eatery I have gone to. I liked it. I would definitely recommend this to others.

El Pilon, A must try eatery

Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat combine. This is puerto rican cuisine. You must try this place. Service is extraordinary - food is outstanding. The meal I had... a cup of espresso,
pepsi, roast pork, black beans, & peas and yellow rice
. All under 11.50.  WOW the roast pork was to die for. It was moist, tender and seasoned just right. No need for a knife. The yellow rice and peas beautiful for the eyes and the tongue.. Black bean cooked to perfection. My espresso hot and strong.

The service was great . My server check back 3 times . Wanted to know if it was all good. Plus if there was anything more she could get for me. Only in a much pricier restaurant that I have had such Outstanding customer service. That why this place deserves my 5 Stars. It is a bit divey but I go for the food. This has to have been one of the best meals I have had in SWFL.

IHOP, rooty tooty

Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat all in one. This is the first time I have had a rooty tooty. IHOP sends me coupon for my anniversary and birthday. I have always upgraded ( i.e. Spend more money.) with the coupon. This time I was told , the computer would not allow this.  :-(.  So I got the pancakes w/blueberries.
I must say they were light fluffy & hot. Whipped cream was tasty blueberry sauce was sweet. I got coffee. Bottomless cup.
I must say I do like the coffee. BUT.....the cups are waaaaayyyyyyyyyy too small. I must refill too many times. Since I use cream and sugar it is a big aggravation. Especially  with those packets.

Over all I do love the food. It is one of the very few chains that I go to.
BUT this change in policy really sucks.

Brisket Brothers, worth the trip over the bridge

Here is my 2 cents on the food. I was not in the mood for bbq. I went for the day special. Meatloaf sandwich and a side of mac & cheese.
Meat loaf at a bbq place. I was leery. But I am adventurous. It was good. The slices were thick and light.
They were firm but fell easily  when bitten into . The roll was soft. I found the sauce sweet and a bit tangy- spicy. Not hot but flavorable. The mac was cheesy and delish.
I also ask and receive a sample of the brisket. (You must be a fool if you do not taste brisket at a place called Brisket Brothers. That is like going to a steakhouse and asking for fish or chicken .) The brisket was moist and tender.... excellent

Now some chit chat. I found this place on a local tv show (Paradise). I was surprised it was so close to The Cape. Just over the bridge. So worth the trip. It is in a large mall towards the rear a bit hard to find. Just follow your nose. No TV no WIFI 6 tables 1 table outside. Very friendly owners.
Oh yes I thought portions were pretty good. See my pics.
I was told they make a good reuben. All of the ingredients are made on site. That's another review.

Anyway when in the mood give this place a try.
