Jills Joint

Jill's Joint, NE 27th Ln., Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I came here for the fried chicken. Alas it is so popular they were out of this item. So next time.
My entree. Meatloaf, onion rings, and coleslaw. Coleslaw was pretty typical. It was good.
Onion ring flavor able and crunchy. Meat loaf was a suprize. Tasty with bits of bell peppers. Just enough to tell you it there but not overwhelming.
Service was great.
They are located in a no man land of commercial business. My be a bit to drive & navigate but well worth it.

Fish Tale Grill by Merrick

Fish Tale Grill SE 47th Terrance, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
My entree was blacken scallops, coleslaw, orzzo pasta? WONDERFUL
Scallops were cooked to perfection. Fresh from the ocean. Coleslaw sweet/tart, orzzo a delight.
Of course my usual whiny. Blacken was not as spicy as it should be. As it is in New Orleans. Wimpy down for the less sophisticated palette of floridians.
The cocktail sauce had a good bite and tarter sauce was excellent.
Dessert... Italian cheese cake...sweet as well as great looking.. This cake is made with ricotta cheese so it has a different texture , but never the less so good.
The service was stellar so this is one of my favorite eatery in the area.

Hook Fish & Chicken

Hook Fish & Chicken, Dr. MLK Blvd., Ft.Myers,Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.
My entree catfish filets fries and cole slaw.. The fish was fried to perfection crisp on outside moist inside. Small portion of slaw but tasty.
The chicken is only wings from what I saw on the menu.
Everything is given to go. Though you can sit and eat. It may be set up for fast food but it not. Everything is made when you order. I believe you can call ahead and order.
Staff nice and quick.

McCarthy's BBQ

McCarthy's BBQ, Dr. MLK/Crawford. Ft. Myers.. Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
The Food. BBQ ribs & chicken. That is all they serve here. The ribs are the best around. U have mild sauce and spicy sauce.. Big and meaty. Oh yeah messy.
I do find the hot sauce is a bit sour. They use jalapeño for heat.
It is cash only no menu except on the wall and served in a foam container with white bread( to sop up the sauce).
There are no set hours. They are open 7 days a week. They close when they run out.

Kumo Japanese Steakhouse

Kumo SteakHouse, Santa Barbara Blvd.Cape Coral,Fl., Here is my 2 cents and chit chat on my experience. I order a steak teriyaki meal. You get a salad ( add 2 bucks for seaweed), miso soup,
Steak, fried rice, and veggies. This for 10 bucks. Cheaper, better, more food and  healthier for you than fast food  at McDees.
Plus a more civilized way of dining. ( Though I wonder about the first guy that decided on eating/cooking weeds from the ocean. Too salty to begin with😂)
It was quick, wonderful flavor, and excellent service.

Hurricane Grill & Wings

Hurricane Grill & Wing, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents and chatter.
The food. Fish and chips. Fine service and just typical chain food. Properly cooked fish good coleslaw. Fries are fries. No big whoop!

Duffy's Sports Bar

Duffy's Sports Bar,Cape Coral Parkway, Cape Coral,Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.
I felt like a drink. I order a brandy & coke. $7.50 !!!! In passing the server told me it was a 2 fer 1.
Well, my first drink was small, lots of ice, I could barely taste the brandy. My 2nd drink was too strong. No where was it apparent of this special.
The food. I order a fish and chips. I got 2 chunks of fish(see pics) and a poor excuse for chips. The fries were thin like Ste*K & Sh*ke. The coleslaw was ok . The reason I got this, was it listed hush puppies.
Well the puppies did not arrive until I was almost done with my meal. Plus I never had puppies like this. It was coated with panko breading. The outside was soft 3/8 thick and inside was a bit hard. ( See pics)
Well not sure why people come here. It cannot be for the food. Last time I was here 2 years hence. Bad choice then bad choice now.

Grimaldi's Pizzeria

Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Bell Tower Mall, Ft. Myers, Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Before the food I must comment on the decor. It is mahvalous . Red & white checker table clothes. Photographs of the Rat Pack. Songs from Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis,Jr & Dean Martin in the background.
An ole skool thing. Romantic or business atmosphere.
The food. Coal cooked pepperoni & mushroom pizza. It was quick. Sauce was slighty sweet. Crust was very thin. The slices are such you handle like a New Yorker. One handed and folding.
Service was stellar. Definitely I will be back.

Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday, Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape oral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents and chatter. I order via the website. I found the site was easy to navigate and explain things.
I got a bacon cheese burger with onion rings dragged thru the garden.
It was on time when I picked it up. Burger was a perfect medium rare.
I found this personally a great burger every time just enough fat for good flavor.
At 9 bucks fair price around.

Blue Agave

Blu Agave, Cape Coral Pkwy., E., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chatter.
The food.  AHHH finally another good authentic Mexican eatery in the Cape. Salsa that is house made and another treat of a fermented cabbage. A big serving of corn chips. Hold off on the chips.
On a large hot platter size plate , I got beef Chili Colorado Y Mas. Chunks of beef in a tomatoe sauce, with a chili relleno, refried beans and rice. So delish.
For later I took home the super burrito plate. Tasty good, big and so filling. See pic.
Service was great. When its cools off I will be back to eat on the out door patio.
Give this a try.

The Beef Guy

The Beef Guy, Del Prado Blvd.,S., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Chatter... They serve Italian beef sandwiches & Chicago style  hotdogs.
Being the frugal king I got the hotdogs. Every Tuesday the dogs are 2 bucks each. Cannot beat this.
This is not a new place. They moved from Santa Barbara Blvd.
But the service is still great as well as the food.
The dogs are served on a sesame bun, mild peppers, pickle and tomatoes. So tasty.
So if you wish to taste a bit of the windy city, try the italian beef or the standard hotdogs.

Taco Pancho

Taco Pancho, Santa Barbara Blvd. Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on food and chatter.
Lets start with a rant. Why is this place is still open!? I am suprized. Oh I forgot this is SWFL and folks do not know good mexican food or a value for their dollar.
It was a a sunday and my plans fell thru. So I was hungry, this was the only place open and nearby.
I got without looking at the price my favorite chili rellenois . Staff was nice and food came too fast. Tells me it was micro wave. This entree was 10 bucks and was small compare to other REAL mexican joints in the area. Plus it was so bland, I needed 3 containers of hot sauce.
I have gotten larger chili and plates for $6.00 or $8.00 depending on lunch or what have you.
Of course I waited a bit longer, also the food was SO MUCH more TASTY.
Plus I got SO  much VALUE for my MONEY.   www.rholland63.blogspot.com

Sweet Tomatoes

Sweet Tomatoes, Tamiami Trl., Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat. It is a buffet of salad and soup.. It is for mostly health crazies and veggie heads.
I got a free birthday meal.
All of the salads are fresh, crispy and good for the body.
I went here for the soups. I got a chicken and dumpling, a so call chili, a udon soup, cream of mushroom ( over power by bacon, who would have known) Plus a few other. They give you small bowls so you can sample & find out what turns you on. There is fresh bread, rolls and pasta. A dessert station is also available .
I do not recommend the pasta unless you are from Florida or over 65. Very bland and tasteless.
Staff is wonderful.    www.rholland63.blogspot.com

Capones Coal Fire Pizza

Capone's Coal Fire Pizza, 1st St., Ft. Myers,Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I can only attest to the food. I had this delivered by the bite squad. (they did a great job).
I got a Caesar salad, extra croutons & dressing, 5 bucks, and the Capone's shrimp fettuccine, $19
The salad was great fresh romaine lettuce, romano cheese, and large. Also got my additional request at no charge.
Capone's Fettuccine,  Beautiful house made , green in color ,spinach pasta cooked to a perfect al dente. Mushroom, tomatoes and a Boursin cheese sauce. Shrimps were a plenty ,fresh and cooked to perfection.
The entree was big enough to serve 2 person or for a second meal.
My only observation was not enough garlic. Maybe just me.
This was a deal for a frugal foodie.

Hooters

Hooters, Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
My food. $4.25 for a bottle of Heineken, 10 boneless wings. Hot.
First over 4 bucks for a bottle of beer :-(.   The wings were not even close to being hot. Spicy that is. PLUS NOT EVEN WINGS...A some kind of white process meats. And only in a oddly formed chicken nuggets?
Wings have 3 parts and they are dark meat. This is just a fabricated way to sell process food to the dumb masses.
I was here because of a free food offer. Never more free or not.

The Bubble Room

The Bubble Room, Capitva Dr., Captiva, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.
The food. Be advised that you cannot order dinner items at lunch time.   :-(
My entree was Errol Fin, A fried grouper with carribean rice and a mild salsa. 17 bucks. I must say it was good. Fried crispy  & moist inside. Rice was fluffy with good flavors. Salsa was just right.
Oh yes, an 8oz. baby bottle of Coke for $1.75...In my younger days a 10oz. bottle of Coke was 10 cents.
The stars here are the desserts. I got my to go. An Orange crush & red velvet. BIG slices at 7.95 a pop. Big, sweet ,moist, too much for just person at one time. EXCELLENT
NOW CHATTER...
This was an hour drive from the Cape on a Monday. Expect 2 hours on a weekend. This is an old fashion tourist spot. I heard German, Japanese & Spanish spoken while there.
This is a nice touristy drive. 70 + years in the making . No handicapped parking, two small bridges to enter building, unpaved unmarked parking lot.
Nice friendly staff. Say it someone bday and get sung to.
Oh yes touristy prices.
A touristy to do once in life.
