Sicily Trattoria

Sicily Trattoria, Cape Coral Pkwy., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Finally after book marking this a few years ago I got inside. Was it worth the wait?   Yes.

First I was offered up some house made bread. Warm & tasty.
Then grandma minestrone soup. The best around. The secret just a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Then the main entree lasagna.  very good pipping hot out of the oven.
Service was wonderful.
I must try the pizza.

YOU must give them a shot they are very good.

Steak'n Shake

Steak'n Shake, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is chatter and my 2 cents on the food.

Chit chat...When I was in high school Steak'n Shake was the chic place to go for a date. It had waitresses, it was expensive and had good burgers. I never ed liked the thin french fries.
Now it is one of the cheapest burger joints with so-so servers.
I came here to get my free birthday milk shake. Its never free. you buy something to get it. I got the very strawberry shake. Pretty good.

I order the REALLY big cola. About 32 ounces for a buck,   see pic.
I tried the chili for the first time. Just mediocre and plain. The onion rings. OKay.
A double cheese burger with those awful thin fries...$4....The burger taste like all the other fast food joints except maybe *urger King.
What going for them is they are cheaper than all the others...plus you can get loads of coupons for variation of the burgers.
I know from intuition the servers must be paid squat. When I left a tip the were excited.

So if you are on the cheap this is a good place to go.

Cactus Jack Waterfront Bar & Grill

Cactus Jack Waterfront Bar & Grill, Marinatown Ln., N. Fort Myers, Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

As the name implies it is on a river waterfront. So for those very very very few day that you are allowed to enjoy comfortable weather this is a good place to go.
My server Cory did an outstanding job.
I went with beef enchilada. No fried beans. :-(
I will say this. I was surprize about the black beans. It actually had flavor. You could see onions in it. Unlike every other place I have tried where the black beans are bland.
Ahh the beef enchilada and rice. Nothing to write about. Just bland rice on the side with typical floridian wannabe Mexican food.
Maybe other good stuff but pass on this entree, unless you like black beans.

This has a good ambience feel. So give it a try for that. Prices at lunch were reasonable.

Fish Tale Grill

Fish Tale Grill, Se 47th Ter., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Let me start with this...
This has to be the very BEST Sunday Brunch yet.

It is $25.00 AYCE. ( all you can eat ) Coffee buck fifty...;-)
Unlimited mimosa  $18.00
Beside the regular American fare...You get prime rib, salmon, peel your self shrimp, fresh fruit and dessert.
They also have a guitar play musician...he was not too shabby

Again I loved this brunch...maybe just here for the snowbirds...At 1000 AM it was not crowded.

COME ON DOWN!!!!!

(sorry not enough pics)

Sonice Drive In

Sonic Drive In, Pine Island Rd., N. Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

I went here on $1 hotdog day and thru the drive thru.
It was quick and uneventful for the drive thru.

The food...I do not know what high mucky muck decided that ketchup goes on a American Hotdog. I do know it had to be a 6 yo boy or a republican. yyeeech. Aside from having puree tomatoes it tasted just fine.
The chili dog... perfect for floridians tasty and very plain chili... No spices here,no heat.
LOTS LOTS of a salty dog . High blood pressure stay away.

Plus I come to realize that all hamburgers at these fast food joints taste the same. Cheap but passable.

Antojitos Venezuela

Antojitos Venezuela, NE 3rd Ave, Cape Coral,Fl, Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Chatter...This is a out of the way place...Where the menu is in spanish & the english is 1-2 weeks away as of this posting. Plus as of this posting no one is here to converse in English. You need to use sign language or speak spanish.
Folks were nice...Helpful to me as much as possible.
I used the photo on the menu to pick my meal with my very limited spanish.

The item I got ...see pic. was very good. It was with beef. Called Arepa carne mechada. A type of pulled beef sandwich. A bit pricey at $7 bucks.. I also got 2 beef Empanada $1.65 each.Very tasty.

So if you are adventurous... I know there are a few of you here give this Venezuela eatery a try

Cantina Laredo

Cantina Laredo, Big Pine Way, Ft. Meyers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Lets start with chit chat. The service was quite good. The chips and salsa was passable.
I always judge a mexican joint with the chili rellenois.

So I decide to give the shrimp a try. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE.

This was the WORST MEAL I  have had in recent memory.
First only 1 chili. Then the shrimp.... It was like eating pieces of rubber. Not fresh at all.
Then the chili had barely any flavor. The cheese yech.
Overall with the bed of rice and can corn it was just plain horrible. I ate the few shrimp. I left the rest there.
The price was $18 bucks.
This was my Veteran free meal. WOW...never again

Olde Fish House Marina

Olde Fish House Marina, Pine Island Rd., Matlacha, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Beside a eatery this is a fresh caught seafood market.

My anything on the menu birthday meal.
I got grilled shrimp, coleslaw, onion rings, and hush puppies.
I loved the cocktail sauce. Spicy enough.
Fresh grilled out of the water shrimp. a nice cole slaw and perfect hush puppies.
But the onion rings were bad. Beside not enough, the coating was too hard.
It also was lacking in flavor.

Service was great...I had to tolerate the red tide smell , though a large school of 7-8 catfish was fun to watch. They like the rings.

So to sit outside and fresh fish give them a try.

Thai Nawa

Thai Nawa, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

This is one of my favorite places. The food is filling and as hot & spicy as you can get.

I got the chef special Pad Paradise. A twist on the national dish with added stuff.
I got it so it literally made my eye balls sweat. Along with a thai tea. Service is always outstanding.
Lets not forget the crispy spring rolls. Very thin and crunchy.

If you love Thai cuisine you MUST come to this casual wonderful eatery.
But be warned. Asking  for a number 4 on the heat scale WILL burn your lips.
Wimps in florida stick to 3 or a 2.

Kings Kitchen

Kings Kitchen, W. First St., Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

I came here to give myself a birthday treat. I order a special of the day. They change daily.
I got a steak with a blue cheese topping on one side and various spices on the other. Cooked to medium rare of course.
It was served with a medley of veggies and mash taters. It was wonderful.
Service and my server was funny. She was outstanding.

I suggest you give them a try.

Bubba Roadhouse & Saloon

Bubba Roadhouse & Saloon, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

I love this place. Not because you get a full free meal when you are sign up for the e mail.

The food is pretty much always good. I got the11 oz. top sirloin, mash potato and green beans with corn bread. Of course medium rare.
It was cooked-ed to perfection. Beans with much flavor as was the potatos.
Service was outstanding.
I highly suggest you come here.

Grimaldi's Pizzeria

Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Cleveland Ave., Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

I came here because they are one of the few places that give you a ENTIRE FREE MEAL.  If you sign up for the e mail club you get a free 1 topping 16 inch pizza on your birthday, Dine in only.

I hate to really complain. But I will. Pizza is a personal thing. I like mushroom and pepperoni pies. In this case I added mushroom for 2 dollars more.
But when it arrived piping hot, thin crust and covered with pepperoni. Lo and behold, Where are my MUSHROONS ??

It not the money. I want to taste and eat mushrooms with my pepperoni. There were some 'roons. Just not very much. Though lacking this the pie was very good hot.
I also judge a pie on how it taste cold. In this situation it really failed. The pie was very spongy and too chewy when cold.
The staff was exceptional nice and professional.

I will return and say to you all come on down.

Hart & Soul

Hart & Soul, Del Prado Blvd., S., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. The staff is the best.
I get a waffle, biscuit, eggs over easy and bacon.
My biggest complaint is they are always warming up my cup of coffee. LOL.
This is one of my shortest review.   When a place does everything right on every visit...then you are just nit picking.
I guess one thing they could do better...Make my waffle a bit more crispy.Ha Ha that's me though.
So if seeking a good lunch or breakfast give them a try.
Oh yeah be advise there are 2 entrances. The big parking lot behind them and then the main entrance on Del Prado. Plus a table or two IFO.

Slate's Restuarant

Slate's Restaurant, Candia St., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.

Lets start by saying I went out of my comfort zone and being frugal.  I went for a dinner not a lunch.......This was my birthday meal.
Including tip I spent $140 bucks. It was for a tomahawk steak.
Let it be known they do EVERYTHING from scratch in house but the bread. (bread was wonderful too.)
I tried a cocktail called a Side Car. $10 bucks....good but not ten bucks good.
I got warm bread and butter...Which is unusual today for free bread or rolls.
Then I tried a cup of the gumbo...small portion, but oh so good and spicy...I loved it.

The main entree...a tomahawk steak, medium rare, with 2 large shrimp & fried potatoes with sausage and onions, and creamed spinach.

I was offered 5 different steak sauces... Why would anyone in their right mind put a sauce on the 2% of the advertised best beef available... If you do this you have horrible taste buds and are wasting your money.. Sauces are for less than choice types of beef.

On ward. The meal was terrific the service outstanding. Robin my server was excellent.

This was a carnivore delight
Though I was unable to finish it here, I had to save room for house mad ice cream and a chocolate torte.

This is 5 star place for a romantic date or to spoil yourself or others
