Road 41 Grill, another good place in North Fort Myers

Here is my 2 cents and some chit chat. If you are northbound on Cleveland in North Fort Myers you may miss this. Do not. Good prices good food American and Korean. Its in the old Denny's place.

I stopped here for what was steak on another website. They have it ,but the best is the Korean cuisine.
They have typical american fare. But the jewels are Korea. They have house made kimchi and such.
I order their egg rolls.
Wow so good. Plus there was meat inside not just veggies or cabbage. A must appetizer.
After not finding any good american texas style ribs
I stumbled on Road 41 ribs.  Korean style . Fall off the bone and flavorful... It was a delight after trying lackluster too much vinegar southern ribs.
A dish of rice and kimchi you are set to go.

The owner was a great conversationalist.

So if in need of american grub and Korean style fare stop in here..

Lobster Lady Seafood Market & Bistro, not as good as I thought

Here is my 2 cents on the food and a bit of chit chat.  I was here on a rainy Tuesday for lunch. I have had this booked marked for the past 3 years. It is seafood so it is pricy. I started with a sweet tea.. I asked if it was house made. I was told it was.  But to be honest it tasted like a commercial brand. I have tasted house made at 3 other eatery and know the difference.  But it could be my taste buds. It was OK.
I was offered a bit of fresh bread and butter.
It was delightful. Not too many places give fresh bread or rolls with meals any more. Wonderful.
They had gumbo on the list. Great I love a good gumbo.
My last two gumbos were from a local southern eatery and out of a can. Eatery outstanding 5 stars. Can ehhhh.  Well I was disappointed with the Lobster Lady gumbo.  First it was not heated enough just above room temperature. Then way too salty for me. It had plenty of okra, shrimp, sausage etc. But to be honest I thought I was eating a slightly upgrade from out of the national brand can soup. Also there rice through out. It was not served on a bed of rice. Which was ok but it lack the proper flavor.
My sides were outstanding. The spinach was sauteed excellently. I am as always adventurous   . I got the Seaweed Salad. It was chilled and oh so good. .Too think a weed from the ocean could be so tasty. Who had the courage to try this. Well Done.
They had my favorite fish. Trout. It was delightful too.
Not overcooked just right. I had it almondine
I enjoyed it. But maybe a bit too much sauce. Again though that's just me. Over all a great entree. Thumbs up chef.

My server Kathleen ( I believe) was outstanding She did an excellent job.

Over a good experience..

Jax Diner, Still good stuff

Well I have revisited Jax.  You still need to pay with cash , no plastic or other forms of imaginary currency.

The staff is still top notched. Helpful and delightful.
Food is home style ,home made , in house ....

I had fried chicken ,real mash potatoes and country gravy. But I must say I was not too thrilled with the biscuit this time.  Not sure if it was me or the cook had a off day. Oh yes this is another place that makes it own sweet tea. It was great.

So if in the market for good basic american food at a reasonable  price drop on in and enjoy.

Sonny's BBQ, good sides mediocre bbq

Here is my 2 cents on the food.  I was lured in to try the ? award winning? bbq.

The only award winning stuff was the sides. Green beans and mac and cheese,  were so good. I come here just for  these.
The bbq, NO it sucks. I do not know who do these awards but I guess they are bribed. Pork is good falls off the bone. BUT the sauces plain suck.  WAY too much vinegar and too watery.Really lacks flavor.
It must be a floridian or southern thing. Terrible .I only come here when they have specials and it cheaper to eat here than make it myself.

I must give thumbs up to the staff. Always outstanding work.

But really what type of people come here. Obviously with no education in the finer cuisine arts. Or had REALLY bad cooks growing up.

Cantina Laredo, great surroundings, mediocre food

HI! here is my 2 cents with some  chit chat.  First it is very pretty. BUT way over price. I was in the area and was offered a free appetiser. Queso Laredo.
It is priced at 10 bucks, it is that cheese in a bottle at the chips display that you find in a grocery store. It is served in a soup bowl with a bit of chopped tomatoes & onions. Along with mass produce chips. The chips were light and warmed. I was also given to salsa they seemed to be made in house. They were ok. I did ask for hotter stuff and got it. Smokey and made me sweat. Delish.
I also got a sweet tea. 3 bucks for this!!!!

My to go to dish in a mexican eatery is the chili rellenos.  It was served with rice and a medley of vegetables on the side. Rice thumbs up veggies  OK.
I am usually given 2 peppers filled with cheese.
Here I was offered beef, chix, or cheese. I got the beef. IT was big I must admit. It like 2 peppers melded together. But it was terrible they had mixed a bit of cinnamon with it.  Over all flavor yuck.  I had chili rellenos at a lower price ( here its 14 bucks) at 2 other local mom and pop places that were to die for. Here no..

Coming from California I know good mexican food. This is not. The decor is great. I thought the staff was outstanding.  But this is a touristy type place for folks who want entertainment not real experience or great food.
So if you have a big wallet lack of good taste for real mexican food come on down . This is for you.
