Debono's Stop and Go, 2200 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat and some random thoughts.
WOW who would expect good lasagna ,salads and subs at a gas station. I went here on a tip. And the tip was right. Got a made to order 8 inch sub for 5 bucks. BUT the big kicker was the homemade lasagna. It was so tasty and good about a fin also. It is a small deli inside a gas/convenience store.
No tables everything to go.
But so worth the drop in. So stop and fill the tank and fill the belly.

McDonalds, Leap Day, sucks
McDonald's, Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat, and random thoughts.
First some chit chat. When I was much younger going to a McDonald's was a treat and a privilege.
Burgers were bigger than the bun, there were 3-4 slices of pickles, mustard and ketchup. OH yes they only cost 10 cents.
Now they SUCK. Not worth the time or money.
I went here for the Leap Day Event. Burgers 49 cents cheese 69 cents.
I wanted a large vanilla shake. I like the shakes. NOOOOO they were out of shakes. How can a place that serves shake be out of shake. Can you not send a manager to another place and borrowed the items until you get your supply. With computer they should warn of a low inventory and compensate.
Next the burger. 1 ,ONE slice of pickle, no mustard, barely any ketchup and the burger pattie MAYBE 3/16 of inch thick BUT smaller than the bun..
How do the CEO and board of director live with them selves. PULLING in obscene salary and wondering why the profits and customers are going away.
I will let you draw your own conclusions.

Perfect Cup, not so perfect
Perfect Cup, Pine Island Rd., Matlacha, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat, and random thoughts.. Lets start on a positive note. I order a belgian waffle. It was crispy, fluffy and tasted wonderful.
Lets do chit chat and talk about the rest of my meal. I arrived at 1045 AM on a Saturday morn. My mistake and a reminder why I go early to restaurants. There was a 5-10 minute wait for a seat. Another 5-10 wait for my menu. 10 minutes or so for my hot beverage. When I got my beverage it was lukewarm to cold. WOW no perfect cup here. When my food arrived my over easy were WAY over cooked. A bright spot was my server saw that my order was WRONG. She apologized and took my plate away to fix the issue.
In the mean time some yuppies had their rugrat in a high chair using a knife & fork as drumsticks banging on the table. What crude & rude folks.
I got my order back. Properly made. I believe it was the cook who came to my table and apologized.
This is a Great thumbs up for the eatery.
The ham was good not salty as it can be. On the thick side....But the taters were not so tasty. Just ok.
Most of the reviews are positive. I think it was my time to have a not so good experince.
Will I come back??? Of course everyone can have a bad day.

Pickled Parrot Island Grille, disappointing seafood omelete
Pickled Parrot Island Grill, Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat and random thoughts.
Today I ordered the seafood omelet with hollandaise sauce...13 BUCKS
I have been here twice before. I was really looking forward to this dish.WOW was I disappointed.
As a cook or a chef you need to know how to make a fluffy egg omelet. This is a requirement if you are to be a chef at least in France. I am not a trained per se chef in America, but I know how to make a omelet.
First for this price I should get 2 large eggs or 3 medium eggs. This was not .I thought it would be maybe stuff with seafood. NOPE. I only saw one medium size shrimp. They other stuff was TOO small to know. Taste was ok.
The side of potatoes was a joke. They were overcooked and dry. It was also a small portion. Less then a half of a average potatoe. I know. I had just sliced up some potatoe for a pot roast to be eaten this Sunday.
The fresh fruit cup was fine but again the portion was what sick people get in the hospital. Been there done that.
Service ehhh. 1115 AM Sunday. 1 server 2 tables seated. I had to wait 5 minutes to seat myself. Another five for a menu.
I will allow you my readers to make any conclusions.
Note: I am a retired law enforcement officer. I deal only with the fact as they appear.

Golden Corral, Love it or Hate it
Golden Corral, Cape Coral, FL, Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat.
I was in a" I don't know what to eat mood". I was driving by the Corral and decided to check out the lunch.
You pay extra for your beverage. I guess I am looking like a old fogey. The cashier gave me the 55+ discount. I am not sure if that is everyday or just on Wednesday. I was there on a Wednesday.
The good thing about this corral everything looked freshly made.
I know the pot roast was. I saw them chopping up some real big carrots and I asked what they were for?
Salad bar all veggie were green and crisp.
NOW... If you have a thing against Golden Corral I can understand. BUT they have such a variety of items you will find something for the taste buds. I found I really liked the baked fish, the fried chicken not too shabby. I hated the oven bake BBQ chicken. Stuffing not bad a little too wet for me.
A make your own taco bar. some chicken enchilada, hushpuppies, meatloaf oh lets not forget the pot roast.
AHHH yes if none of this is for you , you just go to keep a partner happy.
The Dessert Bar , carrot cake, pies, cookies, chocolate cake etc.
Plus you do get a waiter of sorts(mine was Micah) they try to make you as happy as possible.
Do not be so cheap. If they help you leave a gratuity. Or give a compliment to the boss that's free.
Any way this was a good thing.

Oasis Restaurant , A great local comfort food eatery
Oasis Restaurant, Dr MLK Blvd. Fort Myers, FL. Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat and random thoughts. This is a great gem for the local folks. Comfort food friendly staff.
One problem...too many folks know of this and like it.
The food... I had two entree today. A french dip and a Betty Bop.
The french dip was good with lots of beef on a hoagie roll. Au jus was just right not too salty as some can be found. Oh yea the side of house made cole slaw. Sweet and a bit salty wonderful for the taste buds.
My take home Betty Bop is a chicken salad, bacon, lettuce, tomato on a rye bread. Sounds a bit strange but a great combination. The side of potato salad, not their own I found as one of the best so far.
Some chit chat. At every table a bottle of hand sanitizer. You get a picture of tea if you order sweet tea and a offer of a to go cup when done.
Also be advise if you sit near the cashier, you will hear the telephone a lot. Lots of calls for to go orders. They also do delivery.
Service was prompt and great attitude. I will be back again.

IHOP, all you can eat shrimp and 20% off tuesday for 55 YO fogies
IHOP, Cleveland Ave, FT. Myers, FL.(24 hrs). Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat and random thoughts.I was drawn here with the all you can eat popcorn shrimp.
Well it is true. My shrimp was delivered hot each time. The cocktail was spicy enough. But I was not too crazy about the fries. But I was there for the shrimp mmmm good.
As of this writing it was $8.99.
BONUS:: if you are an old fogey 55 + on Tuesdays you get 20% off. What a sweet deal. That explains why the place was so full and a wait time 5-10 minutes.
AHHH my server, Barbara. Did a fantastic job. Waited on me and a family of 11 from Finland.
I knew they were not from the USA.. They kept refusing butter on all their pancakes. I guess our butter pale compare to Finland.
Over all a grand meal and experience.

Misto Bar and Grill, elegant bistro...not a bar.
Misto Bar and Grill, Del Prado,S, Cape Coral, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food, chit chat and random thoughts.
I was pointed in this direction by a fellow foodie for this place. I checked the on line menu and was planning to try the bison burger. BUT I went with this day lunch special entree's. In this case veal stew.
Never had it.I am always adventurous. In this case a winner.
First I was given a hot buttery garlic bread. Bread is almost forgotten now a days. It tasted so good and I was offered more mmmmm.
The veal stew had to be one of the best meals I have had in the last few months. Chunks of veal, potato some corn in a tomatoe base.
It was savory and so flavorable. The only bad part was I burnt my tongue when it was first set down in front of me.LOL. And bread for the end to sop up all the goodness.
I keep finding out all the really good places are within 4 miles of my house and my gourmet ghetto North Fort Myers. Great food reasonable prices.
Hidden here in a strip mall a great place to chow down. Great service.
NOTE; This is more of a elegant bistro. NOT a bar.
