Rebel Coffee Roastery & Tea Lounge, Broadway, Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Lets start with my raves of this place....The staff and their customer service was simply outstanding. I loved the bacon and the Ethiopian coffee was great.
Alas my rants.
I order the Brasilian coffee. It looked and tasted liked a weak tea. I requested from the menu
a Belgium waffle. I know chefs like to put their own spin on standard fare. BUT in this case it was so WRONG.
My Belgium waffle should have been round. What I got was regular square waffles. Which would have been OK for me....Alas the baking of the waffle was under done. The big disappointment was the recipe. The texture was wrong the taste was horrible. It was a tart tasting thing. Even after a 2nd waffle that was cooked to a more crispy state. I just hated it.
If they would have added a bit of more sugar & flour it would be good. Except whatever the recipe they tried it just failed miserably.
They must be doing other good stuff BUT this was so wrong for me.
I will be back because the staff was so good.

Bullig Coffee & Bites
Bullig Coffee & Bites, Fowler St., Ft. Myers, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I got the house coffee and their version of a waffle.
The coffee was very good. Me being a waffle expert, the waffle was outstanding.
Though it was a new modern design of a waffle it tasted very good.
Now chatter. The staff and owner are great. This is a kinda touchy feelly place for The organic/veggie folks who walk among us. Its kinda out of the way place, next to the butterflies estates in downtown Ft. Myers.
But well worth the trouble of seeking out this little gem.
Its not for the blue collar guys. There is NO IFO of the business parking. You must drive around and park in the 10-15 space lot or on the Hough St.
So if seeking something healthy or different give it a try..

The Backyard Beer Garden
The Backyard Beer Garden, Cape Coral Pkwy, E., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I did not know what to get. So I went with the chef recommendation.
The philly cheese steak. $12 bucks.
WOW... A GREAT CHOICE.
It was the best steak sandwich since being stuck here. Over one half pound of beef. on a 10 inch fresh roll (crunchy outside, soft inside, I measured the length)
With Whiz, grilled onions and actually HOT peppers.
I was in a heaven, if there was a heaven.
I had a ice cold Belgium draft beer & fries were perfect.
To top it off the price fit me being frugal.
My server, Alexander, ( I forget the nickname that she prefers to be called,I am sorry,. She was outstanding. ..... AAAAhhhh it is Lexi)
Alas though I liked the decor. I was not crazy about the high tables with no back chairs and low tables. You had to bend over to eat your meal.
Anyway it was a great experience.

Athenian Restaurant
Athenian Restaurant, N. Tamiami Trl., N. Fort Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I order the special of the day. Oxtail over pasta. Never had it it. Never heard of it.
It was about 11 bucks. But it was good.
I got a cup of delish tomato soup too. A salad along with a dessert was included in this special a good deal. Plus a rarity a was bun included
It was oxtail cooked in a tomato base sauce. On a bed of spaghetti. The sauce was cooked with sweetness of tomato and onions. The oxtails were big & meaty falling off the bones.
Alas they were very messy. I needed to man handle them to get all of the tender beef.
I love this place. A mom and pop joint thats serves comfort food. Quality ingredients, large portions at reasonable prices.
Service is top notch.
But because of this it can be very crowded.

Captain Kidd
Captain Kidd, N. Harbor Dr., Redondo Beach, Ca. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I got a crab cake sandwich with 2 sides, fries & fruit.
This is a fish market. You pick out your seafood and they cook it for you. Prices can change because of the market value. It goes from 5 bucks to 12 bucks or so.
My order was great. It was crunchy & very much flavor-able. Being a Monday morning service was quick. You order at the counter and they call you up. You get the option of eating inside or outside looking down the pier.
I really recommend you go here if in the area.

Petes Fish & Chips
Pete's Fish & Chips, Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I got a regular order 1 fish and fries( not original type of chips) with 2 ounces of cole slaw. $11.95
Beside the cole slaw being small, it was not very good. Too sour.
The fish was a bit under cook...it was too moist but passable.
The other fish & chip joint gives you 2 piece with real chips.
I did pick up a steak/mushroom pastry for home very good.
If you do not like driving 20-30 minutes for fish and chips this is a good place.
Service bright and cheery.

Brookes Restaurant & Lounge
Brookes Restaurant & Lounge, Hancock Bridge Pkwy, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I order the a special of the day, a blacken fish sandwich with cole slaw and fries.
Blacken should be spicy. So I made the special request for then to kick it up. They did.
Around here anything that suppose to be spicy is wimpy. You must ask to ensure.
The fish was blacken on a toasted bun. A fantastic side of cole slaw. Creamy, sweet a bit tart best in the area. I got a cup of chili. Not so good. Lots of ground beef and beans. But TOO sweet from the tomatoes. Its needs more cumin, cayenne pepper and onions.
Large portion of fries.
My taste buds are more sophisticated than the local yodels so I have to kick things up a notch.
All for 11 bucks or so. Plus a additional bottomless soda pop.
Generally this place always has good chow.
Service was grand. When in doubt on what to eat this is the place to go.

Ceno Grille
Ceno Grille, Cape Coral Pkwy, Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.
They just got some reward for excellent.
My entree was not so excellent. I ordered spanakopita. See pic.
My dish was burnt, potatos burnt and just tasted nasty. I have been to 3 others greek type eateries in the area so I know spanakopita. I was charged $15 bucks. A high price.
I told my waitress. The manager, came by and offered me a gyro. I did not want to wait for the spanakopita again.
Though I took the gyro, I am not a gyro fan... This one was just ok.
I have had much better from a street vendor.
My treatment was fine. Though they could have reduced my bill.
My advice pass on the greek food try other stuff.

Square 1 Burgers & Bar
Square 1 Burgers & Bar, Cleveland Ave., Ft. Myers, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I got the cheapest burger here, the American. 10 bucks, it goes up from here.
I ask for it medium rare, it came more rare. But thats ok by me. With onion rings.
The burger was good and juicy. Oh yeah on a fancy bun call a brioche... The rings hand breaded just not enough of them.
I think paying $10 for a burger is a lot. But this being a tourist area and greedy Florida you just have to expect being gouge.
My server Jennifer was outstanding.
Burger, yeah good to back but too pricey.

Anthony on the Blvd.
Anthony on the Blvd., Del Prado Blvd, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I went here for the breakfast buffet. $10 with coffee.
NOTE: ( on your birthday you get the percentage of your birthday on your meal. ie. 65yo. U get 65% off.)
If you like traditional Americanize breakfast buffet this is for you. Cinnamon rolls, bacon, sausage, biscuits, toast etc.
They have a egg station. So you can get over easy sunny side up etc.
Also so called omelet...The guy who makes the eggs has been here for a while...HE does NOT know how to make the traditional-french omelet as we know it. He would never pass as a chef in France.... ;-(
Aside from lacking this skill he does an excellent job.
Anyway food is hot, fresh ,good quality and fine service.

Nestor's
Nestor's, Hancock Bridge Pkwy, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents and some chatter.
This is one of a hand full of Greek-American eatery around, Alway great food good portions and frugal.
I order the house made chicken soup. Plus the open face gyro. You can always tell house made by the way veggies are sliced imperfect. Soup hot and delish
The same for the gyro. Hot and so good a carnivore delite with a touch of healthy attached
to it.
Breakfast or dinner outstanding.
Lots of flavor great for a second meal. Service was grand,
Outback Steakhouse
Outback Steak House, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
I am part of their rewards program. After going 4 times I get 50% off a meal. SO my ribeye cost 20 bucks.
NOTE...( The professional writers out suggest you order rib eye. You get your bang for your buck)
Here you get a freshly baked bread and butter. At no charge.Which is an oddity theses dayz. But so welcome.
I ordered the top of the line bone in rib eye. I must say a small bone. Grilled to a perfect medium rare. With garlic mash taters and a beverly of seasonal veggies. Excellently cooked. The service was great and well pace.
For a chain restaurant they did an outstanding job.
Steak was big enough for me to have a second meal. MMMM a carnivore delight.
Over all I was delighted. I will .return

Hibachi of Japan 3
Hibachi of Japan 3, Hancock Bridge Pkwy, N. Fort Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
This is a quaint number 3 Japanese eatery from a local Naples chain that's serves hibachi & sushi.
I got the steak bowl with udon noodles/veggies. The steak was served medium rare as I requested. The veggie was cooked very soft. Along with tasty though not over powering sauces. It was a wonderful meal. 10 bucks.
They also serve sushi and tempura. The place makes you feel at home.
Service is excellent.
So if in search of a quiet Japanese meal this is a place to go.

Maverick Grille
Maverick Grille,, Del Prado Blvd., S, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents.
This is a different review.
Let's start with the good stuff and then chit chat about everything else.
All of the ingredients were fresh. I loved the plantains. The baklava was cheap 2 bucks.
The staff was outstanding. A very good location except for handicapped folks.
BUT what is this place. It appears to be be a mishmash of cuisines. What I am not sure.
They offer you protein, when is chicken and lettuce a protein together?
They offer black beans...Just black bean cooked in PLAIN water. Italian beans...what the heck is Italian beans. Over 50 years on this planet, I have NEVER heard of Italian beans. Yellow rice & brown rice.
They offer a wrap or a gyro...basically the same thing. A bowl or salad...Its the same type container.
Plus when you try to combine this stuff into a meal...unless you are a imaginary quick chef wizard .....It is just a bunch of stuff thrown together as if you are CLEANING out your fridge.
There is no spices or anything that makes this unique...If you like plain mediocre food ( like a majority of rednecks floridians) This is your *isney Land.
Otherwise stay home and clean that fridge.
6 dollars for a very small bowl.....9 dollars for a larger bowl.
$2.60 for drinks. ( be careful my plastic cup split in half and made a big mess on the floor)

My Sweet Art, Nicholas Parkway, Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food & chatter.
AAHHH finally a manly food at a french bistro. Bacon, sausage and cheese quiche. ten bucks or so.
I have been waiting for them to bring this around. Hearty, filling and oh so tasty.
A man's meal. It was so good. Plus the all you drink coffee.

If you have not tried this place,You are missing a culinary delight.
