Five Guys Burger

Five Guys Burger, Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Well I was in the mood for a beef burger. So go to the place that has burger in its name.

I got a malted shake, small burger & fries. WOW...15 bucks

First the staff was excellent. Food was given in timely matter and tasted just fine.
I loved the malted shake.  Burger had to be cooked to medium well per Big Brother, I mean Corporate rules. Fries were just french fries.
Over all just plain hamburger, over cooked ,over priced not over whelming at all.

Much better to go to a local mom & pop eatery for the same price. You get a better experience and cuisine.

Philly Junction

Philly Junction, Summerlin Rd., Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Well I went back here because it was close to a doctor office.

I forgot how disappointed I was the first time.
I got an onion ring and a signature sandwich.
The rings were very passable.
I got a italian hoagie. 8 bucks
It was more bread than contents. It was lacking cheese & meat. Good for a veggie head lots of filler of lettuce.
Service was very good.
I will cross this off my list...Quality was fine quantity and price not so much.

Palmette-Pine County Club Restaurant

Palmetto-Pine Country Club Restaurant, SW 9th Ct., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is some chatter and my 2 cents on the food.
First chatter...
My first observation is that there was no ID of where the restaurant was. 2nd they allowed anyone to park and take up more than one space in the handicapped area.
When I enter I was greeted warmly and enthusiastically.
It was very nicely decorated.

The lunch menu was very limited to just wraps, salad and a burger or so.
I was able to get a cherry coke made. Thank you.

I got the house burger, medium rare, with cole slaw that is made with apricots of all things.
I do like cooks to experiment with traditional items, in this case it fails. It was not very sweet nor very salty. Just blaahhh. I saw some apricot but just pass.
Plus on the recommendation of my server I got the potato soup. It had cheese & bacon on top. It tasted like a liquid baked potato. Good and interesting.
Now the burger. I tried to like it but could not.It was cooked to medium rare. It was served on those awful brioche buns. When they get wet they fall apart.
Plus the grilled was not properly cleaned ( I have worked in a kitchen I know). I tasted the burnt parts from the grill not being clean with water.

I also got a small raspberry mousse for dessert, delightful.

But the thing that got me MOST mad was the bill.

They automatically  have the nerve to add a gratuity to my bill. I was not given the option of how much to give my waitress. ( note: she deserved 20%).
When asked the server, she stated she has no control over this plus she waits 2 weeks to get the taxed money.
This is obscene of  BIG BROTHER.  It is more the principle than money.
For this reason alone. I will never be back.

Espresso to Go

Espresso to Go, Handcock Bridge Pkwy, Cape Coral, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
This is hands down the best place to get a cuppa joe, tea or other libation.
It is a drive thru BUT it has a wonderful picnic area on a canal. There are turtles, a pelican and others to amuse you while you drink your drink or eat your donut.

Drinks are made to order and reasonable.

K J's Steakhouse

K J's Steakhouse, Cleveland Ave., Ft. Myers,Fl., Here is chatter and my 2 cents on the food.
When I go to an american steakhouse...I expect my steak to be marbled, only salt & pepper and cooked medium rare.

First the good stuff. My waitress, Sarah, did an excellent job. My Cesar salad was just fine.
She even got me a cherry coke.
But the coke was over priced at $3.10
My order was a rib eye steak medium rare with creamed spinach. $26.10 ( see my photographs)
My small portion of creamed spinach was more cream than spinach.
My steak came with some kind of citrus sauce and cheese.I hated it. This was not mentioned on the menu. Otherwise I would have asked to omit this.
The steak came medium rare. BUT no marbling. One fourth FAT.  See pics.
I have been to many steak places...this was the worst.

Stanijas European Restaurant

Stanijas European Restaurant,Chiquita Blvd. Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.

Well this is the 3rd owner I believe of this eatery.
I do enjoy the beers though as of all SWFL over priced for the tourist.
To be honest I am not sure what I got.
I do know this....( see my photos) The mash potatoes were excellent. The purple sauerkraut was wonderful.
AAHHH but the rolled meat. I believe it was beef. .. It was VERY tough and pretty tasteless.
The apple strudel with ice cream made up for the entree.
The staff was very attentive and nice.
I will go back and try a suarbraten or something.

South Cape Diner

South Cape Diner, Cape Coral Pkwy, Cape Coral,Fl. Here is some chatter and my 2 cents on the food.

I have been here before and been a happy trooper. But alas this time I saw a sign asking for a cook. I should have left.
Service and staff over all was excellent. Ah but the food. !!!
I decided on the comfort food.Meatloaf, mash taters and cole slaw. 10 bucks.....

Oh so wrong. First the cole slaw. Though it was fresh and crunchy it was just horrible with a very sour vinegar dressing.
There was no mash potatoe. The potatoe were out of the box with too much liquid... It was like eating runny malt-o-meal.
The gravy was box too.Tasted very good. Dark color but no bits of beef to be seen.
The meat loaf was like a slice of dark rye bread. Heavy tasted horrible.

I will be back but once a new cook is here.

Lan Xang

Lan Xang, Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Chatter.
This is a wonderful thai eatery. They have a all you can eat lunch menu for 14 bucks.
No other Thai joint does this.
I got dim sum a entree and dessert.
Be warned no take home...You order here... You eat here...

Ahhh the food is fabulous. I got a steamed bun, steamed dumplings along with their Pad Thai & another noodle dish. Plus a wonderful dessert.
You cannot go wrong with just throwing a dart to try ANY dish.
Lets not forget the thai tea!!
Service and atmosphere is is great.

Give them a try.

McGregor Cafe

McGregor Cafe, McGregor Blvd., Ft. Myers, Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
It was a VERY nice day for a change in h**l, I mean Florida No oppressive heat or horrible humidity.
I wanted to sit outdoor plus revisited this place 3 years later.

It is still a healthy oriented, over priced yuppy type place.
I got a roast beef on a croissant with potatoe salad & pickle spear.
The potatoe salad and spear was the best part of this $10 + meal.
Loved the salad loved the spear.
Sandwich was over lean (no fat), tasteless roast beef not enough meat. Not worth a carnivore effort.

The service was A+ setting very nice. The food eethhh.
