El Patio, Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is a bit of chit chat and my 2 cents on the food.
This place has been here for a while. It is under new management.
I have never experience peruvian food. The folks here walked me thru it.
Drink, Purple corn drink. Something you need to acquire a taste for. It purple and has a taste of cinnamon in it. Ok... I would try it again.
Coffee, good strong robust.
Ceviche... This is what Peru is known for. Seafood that is raw and cooked with a acid of different juices. I found I like it. I like the different seafood, (BUT hate squid or octopus. I hate this no matter how it is prepared.) Shrimp, scallops, fish , mussels etc are fine. Good flavor.
The appetizer is a meal by itself. I got the house ceviche. 14 bucks.
They offer $7 & $10 meals for lunch.
I got the lunch paella 10 bucks. A good paella. I needed to take it home.
Folks were super friendly and helpful. Gave me a insight on peruvian cuisine.. Lots of corn and spicy sauces . Loved it.
So they are across from the Hospital in the Cape if you are in the area give them a try.

Dickey's BBQ
Dickey's BBQ, Dani Dr., Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Chit chat... Ahhh finally a place that serves REAL bbq. BBQ Brisket.
The food. I got a brisket dinner, with beans, cole slaw and a roll. Also some ribs.
The best part for me is the REAL Texas style bbq sauce. HOT and sweet at the same time. Not this wimpy thin sour stuff that is called a sauce around these parts.
The brisket is fall apart with a thin layer of fat. Oh so good flavor. Of course hot/sweet sauce to be added. Be sure you get it sliced, great for a white bread sandwich. The beans and coleslaw are good for a chain. Loved the rolls.
My partner loved the ribs. Dry rub was good.
Service was quick and attentive.
If in a hurry you can order online and schedule your pickup.

Long John Silvers
Long John Silver, Dani Dr., Ft. Myers, Fl., Here is some chit chat and my 2 cents on the food.
Well I am spoiled for even good seafood in SWFL. I only went here because of a BOGO coupon and for another stop. (10 miles from the Coma) I got 2 piece fish , 3 piece chicken, coleslaw and corn. Hushpuppies were tasty.
The corn was actually the best tasting item of the group. Coleslaw eehhh. The fish, fried to a golden brown, no real flavor dried inside. Same thing with the chicken. The tartar sauce and cocktail sauce was just plain nasty
The staff was a good crew, nice helpful friendly.
It is not their fault they have bad recipes.
But why the public accepts this stuff. oh yeah they are idiots and do not good food.

R & L Delicious Bakery
R & L Delicious Bakery, Pondella Rd., North Fort Myers,Fl. Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
Here is a welcome bakery for the area. They are a latin style bakery. Which means they try to duplicate european pastries. They do a good job. Except the items are less sweet than true european bakeries. Perfect for the local yodels.
I had a nice ham and cheese quiche, 6 bucks, a cream puff and other pastries. The were fresh flaky very good.
They offer strong coffee and sandwiches.
Service was great. If in the area give them a try.

BurgerQue
BurgerQue, Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
The food. $6.50 for a burger your way, 2 sides.
This has to be one of the best deals in the area. A burger cooked to your doneness. Wonderful.
The sides are at least four ounces .Bigger than most other places. I got the coleslaw and bbq beans.
The slaw was no big deal just chopped cabbage. Not too much flavor per se. BBq beans it had too much cumin. It did not know if it was to be spicy or sweet. They need to redo the recipe. For you folks who like this, you just do not know good food.
But the burger was a 5 star masterpiece.
Service was great.
Get the food to go..
A tip. there is NO AIR CONDITIONING....just a nice outdoor patio with loud music and even louder FANS. ( poor staff)

Island Pho & Grill
Island Pho & Grill, Pine Island Rd., NW, Matlacha, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
The food. I got the pho of course. Soup. This is vietnamese style. Filling, healthy and so much flavor.
There are so many variety of the soup you like or need. It is a tad more expensive than if you find it in a large city. (More competition and access to the ingredients.)
Plus this is a bit time consuming process in making the broth, but so worth.
You can have it mild to insanely wild for spiciness. PLUS it is available for the nutty veggie head to the carnivore.
Its locally own and you get wonderful service.
So in the mood for something different ,try this place.

The Golden Fork Cafe
www.rholland63.blogspot.com The Golden Fork Cafe, Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat.
Some chatter. This is a great eatery that caters to us local yokels.. That it is popular with the snowbirds is a happy coincidence . They serve a variety of take home bake goods. Breakfast and lunch time chow is the deal here. Service is great except it may be slow on Sundays especially during season.
On this day I never had a low cup of java. Someone was always topping me off.
The food. I believe a 4 egg western omelet, house fries, tender fried to a delicate crisp & a freshly baked biscuit. With real butter was my choice of the day. Plus a slice of cantaloupe for garnishment completed the deal. Omelete properly prepared. Though I wish more places would carry hot jalapeno peppers. But I am surrounded with wimpy and weak constitutional bellies of old fogeys.
I am fortunate to be an old fogey,60, With a cast iron stomach and NO allergies of any kind.
Eating 4-5 pickle jalapenos at a sitting or loads of hot sauce. If it does not make me sweat it is not worth eating.I like my food like I like my women hot & spicy.
Hooked Island Grill
www.rholland63.blogspot.com
Hooked Island Grill, Pine Island Rd., Matlacha, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
The food. I had 2 meals from here.
1st a dine in.
I order a cup of the clam chowder,5 bucks. It was thick with taters, clams and even some bacon. You know it was house made the taters were unevenly cut. :-). Nice, a bit mild for me.
Cole slaw a good size portion ,compare to other restaurants around, well balanced tasty.
A fish sandwich. 2 filets...The fish properly fried ,crisp outside ,flaky inside. A stand up bun. The tartar sauce was a mix old skool and new. Good.
2nd meal take home. I was really surprised. I got a biscuit, bbq oven beans and the broasted chicken, dark meat.
The chicken was the best I have had at a local own eatery yet. It was crisp, moist, had flavor and NOT over salted.
The beans were great ,thick, a bit sweet bbq flavor. Almost as good as MY beans.
Biscuit light and flaky with packs of honey & butter included.
Service was attentive.

Paesano Italian Market
www.rholland63.blogspot.com Paesano Italian Market, Lafayette St.,Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chatter.
The food. I got the weekly special of a italian sausage with onions/peppers. Along with fries. A carnivore delight with a touch of spiciness. On a toasted roll. Wonderful !!!
CHITCHAT...BUT. the real delight for me is the other food that is prepared to go home.
For those that do not know this is the only Italian market in the Cape. A butcher shop, deli and fresh produce and of course lots imports from Italy.
I love the chicken cacciatore tasty plenty of chicken.
I recently tried the lasagne . It was a two edged sword. Good size portion, lots of meat, lots of cheese.
UNFORTUNATELY, not much flavor . It really needed more garlic onions and other italian ingredients. I just doctored it up at home.
Service is very helpful. Prices are reasonable ...specials are great.
